CABIN AIR FILTERS

General Information

Sogefi’s highly effective cabin air filters remove more than 90% of all pollen and road dust particles from entering the vehicle cabin without inhibiting the flow of fresh air. Depending on the environment Sogefi cabin air filters also protect the driver from unpleasant odours and vapours.

What does it do?

When driving a car, the driver is exposed to two or three times more pollution than a pedestrian. In fact, the car's ventilation system is in almost direct contact with the exhausts of the vehicles in front and concentrates dust, pollen and soot. This can prove especially problematic for drivers and passengers with allergies.

What's more, the cabin filter effectively reduces the film of dirt on the windscreen, thus improving night vision. As a result of such benefits, all major car manufacturers now produce cars with cabin air filters.

To guarantee that the air in the interior is pure at all times, the cabin air filter needs to be replaced regularly. Replacement should take place as soon as the build-up of dust, soot and pollen particles begins to cause a pressure drop that inhibits the acceptable performance of the vehicle’s ventilation system.

The main signs of saturation are:

• Appearance of foggy mists which are difficult to remove;
• Strong unpleasant smells when starting the vehicle;
• Reduction in ventilation air flow and;
• Heavy atmosphere

How does it work?

The concentration of dust in the atmosphere and the proportion of different types of poisonous particles within it, are a result of the weather conditions and socio- demographic characteristics of each location. By looking at these factors we can estimate that there are between 10 to 80 billion particles floating in each cubic metre of air that we breathe.

Sogefi cabin air filters are made with a synthetic filter media called NONWOVEN, which when properly pleated provides a maximum filtration area and guarantees an average retention rate of 90% of particles.

Sogefi cabin air filters guarantee a retention rate of 100% of particles greater than 3 microns in diameter, such as plant pollen; and no less than 90% of particles 0.5 to 2 microns in diameter, including poisonous exhaust fumes, metallic particles, bacteria and fungi.

The Sogefi cabin filter range also has Active Carbon filters, which feature a layer of active carbon that retains the molecules of different gases, and stops them from reaching the driver.
